Moodle Boot Camp (MBC) is a 4-week (30-contact hour or 3.0 CEU) instructor-led, interactive online course to assist participants in learning Moodle in context, while building an actual Moodle course as their culminating project.
Depending upon prior knowledge, skills and experiences -- participants should expect to spend on average from 1 to 2 hours (at their convenience) each week day completing MBC activities and building their own Project course. Throughout MBC there are tasks and assignments to introduce basic Moodle course design, activities, modules and features that participants integrate into their own Project Course to be used with their own students at a later time.
During MBC you explore Moodle in the roles of student (learner), course creator (instructional designer) and teacher (facilitator).
Prerequisite: An existing course syllabus or course outcomes (from traditional face-to-face classroom or online courses)
By the end of MBC, participants will be able to:
- navigate a Moodle site
- configure Moodle settings
- communicate using Moodle tools
- apply instructional design principles to their Project Course outcomes
- design an appropriate layout
- create and add resources
- create and add activities for learning, interaction/collaboration and assessment
- manage learners in a Moodle course
- participate in an authentic online learning community of practice using Moodle
Thousands of participants have successfully completed this month-long training model over the past five years and are either delivering fully online instruction or blended instruction (supplementing their face-to-face classrooms) right now!
You can, too!
